"Owen Nowhere," a new animated kids' series centered around a preteen content creator, is set to premiere this year on Lamina1's Spaces. But unlike other kids’ shows you might be familiar with, “Owen Nowhere” won’t air on a TV channel. Rather, it’s going to be built on a decentralized web platform by developers. This space, powered by blockchain technology, is what everyone is calling Web3. The series aims to engage young audiences through digital assets and interactive experiences.

The show follows Owen B. Gloom, an aspiring new media mogul. He chronicles his family’s transformative journeys to kooky roadside oddities. Their inaugural destination is the biggest quirky tourist trap in the world.

Lamina1’s Spaces gives creators, big and small, the tools to create fully immersive and rich virtual worlds. They have the ability to create immersive experiences, digital objects, and assets in 2D, 3D, AR, and VR. Chris Jammal and Jaclynn Demas, the show's founders, plan to launch "Owen Nowhere" on this platform, positioning digital assets as a way for fans to be involved in the show.

By owning digital collectibles, like artwork, characters and outfits, fans can invest real dollars into the show’s production. The show’s digital assets are purposely built to drive fan interaction while offering them found-only-here, one-of-a-kind opportunities.

"Maybe they want to buy that souvenir that Owen picked up at the Grand Canyon [as] their own digital asset. Maybe they want to change his outfit. There are so many possibilities of how this can go." - Jammal

Rebecca Barkin from the Harlem Children’s Zone, who has worked on the project from the start, stresses that the initiative isn’t going after the youngest millennials.

“We’re not going after that super young demographic,” - Rebecca Barkin

Barkin further underscored the possibilities for utilizing tokens for loyalty and community building.

"That token can be used as a loyalty token, it doesn’t have to be about cash and trading and the traditional crypto stuff. It’s about token-gated access and rewarding those who are sharing things, who are making really creative contributions to the community," - Rebecca Barkin

Through this platform, Jammal and Demas hope to raise the bar for children’s entertainment in the decentralized era.

"It’s really about their mission to set a “new standard for the future of children’s entertainment in the decentralized era." - Jammal and Demas

Thankfully, the creators have recognized the areas that need protections in this developing space.

“I won’t tell you that we have the perfect answer right now…we’re going to learn real fast as this develops, what protections need to be put in place.” - Rebecca Barkin
